The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'
Acts 17:24-28

Father God thank you that you are God, there is no other, you are God there is none like you. I want my life, breath and everything else to come from you. I'm sorry that I look for it in other places (people). You have and are everything I need. I do not understand why you set me in this place for this time, I feel I do not fit. Help me to seek you, to reach for you. Thank you that you are not far, I forget that. I want my life, and moving, and being to be found in you, and in nothing or no one else but you. Thank you that I am your offspring, your child, that my identity is in you. Help me to live out the hope I have in you.

  1. Wow! I just was meditating on this same passage Sunday evening. I posted on my Blog that he knows the exact boundaries and limitations of where we are to live.(Acts 17:26) Isn't that cool to see How he works even across the distance? The same Holy Spirit! Amazing, truly amazing.

  2. We all have moments where we feel we do not fit, I think. It's a reminder that we belong somewhere else... to Someone else... and we'll never find what we're looking for here. Not really. It's a painful reminder sometimes, but it's a gracious one. Otherwise, we would not long for HOME, and our eyes would never lift.
At those moments when I feel out of place it's reassuring to know that there is a place where I fit perfectly... and it's good to remember and be fascinated from time to time.

  3. Jennifer (from Georgia),
You are so right. Even as I typed this post, I was thinking that I am "a citizen of heaven." I do long for home, and you are right my 'eyes lift' as I belong and long for Someone else. To be fascinated because of that?? There is hope there.
