"People who pray stand receptive before the world. They no longer grab but caress, they no longer bite but kiss, they no longer examine but admire. "
Henri Nowen

I have been grabbing, biting, and examining the world. I'm not happy. I am not seeing people as I should. I am a bit full of myself. I must pray. I must be full of Jesus. I must "love the Lord my God with all my heart, mind (the tough one), soul, and strength, and love my neighbor as myself."

  2. Madeleine L'Engle is an interesting author, I don't know if you've ever read her or not, but she is a bit philosophical. Sometimes I don't agree with what she says, but many times I find her to be wise. She died this past week, and I was reminded of one of my favorite quotes of hers when I read your post...
"I am not myself when I am all replete with very ME."
We have to remember, as Madeleine also said, "we are more than we think we are." Our TRUE identity is in Christ. The more we become like Him, the more we become truly ourselves.

I feel your words, in my soul... I identify with them completely.

More lyrics for you... "Freedom from myself will be the sweetest rest I've ever known..." Personally, I can't wait.
    Thanks for sharing today.

  3. I feel the same. Thank you for being transparent. I am so much more receptive when I pray and ask God to help me see others through His eyes...He is in LOVE with the human race. I am sure of it.
